The charity is encouraging aspiring bakers up and down the country to take part in the charity’s Big Bake.

The first ever Barnardo’s Big Bake has just launched, and the charity hopes its supporters across the country will take up the call (or should that be mixing bowl?) to support them.

‘The Barnardo’s Big Bake is the perfect opportunity to get together with friends and family and enjoy some delicious treats, knowing that the money will be used to support vulnerable children,’ said Barnardo’s Chief Executive, Javed Khan.

The event encourages Barnardo’s supporters to bake or buy an array of goodies and sell them to raise money to help vulnerable children, young people and families who are supported by the charity.

£50 raised at a Barnardo’s Big Bake event could help to pay for two young carers to take part in group activities and help them make friends and build confidence, while a donation of £100 could help pay for toys and resources needed in one of the charity’s specialist counselling rooms.

To inspire budding bakers, the charity has launched a booklet stuffed full of ideas for tasty treats, including a chocolate tray-bake recipe from Barnardo’s ambassador and actor, Fay Ripley.

‘Every cake sold will make a huge difference and help our services continue to support children and young people across the UK,’ continued Javed. ‘On behalf of those children, we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who takes part.’
